The good news is that if your business (those self-employed too) currently receives JobKeeper, your arrangements will generally remain unchanged until 27 September 2020. The not-so-good news is that after this date, your payment rate will be reduced, and a lower payment rate will be introduced for those who work fewer hours.
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's that wonderful time of year again and what a year it has already been!
We hope that you have all stayed safe and well during these trying times and it will be great to catch up with all our lovely clients again, whether it be by phone, email, or in person.
We have made some changes due to COVID-19. Both our office and our tax booth are open (we are so happy to be able to write that!) This year to allow us proper social distancing we will be conducting all appointments in our main office (next to ANZ bank). We will still have the tax booth available for clients who are unable to make an appointment but there will only be limited seating.
We are very excited to announce our new Click & Collect tax refunds. The whole return can be done without having to physically come in and see us. We can also conduct telephone appointments instead of office appointments. However you need your tax return completed, we can do it with the usual minimal fuss!
There are some important ATO changes to note this year:
NO more payment summaries – most employers no longer have to give you a payment summary so we will have access to your wages information via the Tax Agent's Portal
For everyone that has been working from home, we can claim you a set rate per hour during COVID-19 – we can work this out for you
The ATO are once again targeting work-related expenses and rental property deductions – in particular, motor vehicle expenses so if you are meant to keep a logbook please do so and make it available to us
Remember we try our best – really we do. We want everyone to be able to claim as much as possible, whilst keeping out of trouble. Contact us as soon as possible to book an appointment (phone or office) so we can help you get some extra money without delay 😊
Finally, we would like to take this time to thank all of our wonderful clients for their support during these times! Our small business wouldn't survive without you.
We look forward to hearing from you in the coming months and finding out what you have been up to.
